The Government Railway Police (GRP) has registered a case of molestation and passing lewd remarks against the officer. He will be produced in court later in the day after a medical examination.

Railway police said that the incident took place on board in AC-2 compartment (A3) of the train. The girl and her mother had boarded from New Delhi. The officer boarded in Ghaziabad. "The woman’s mother complained to the RPF staff about the harrassment. We have booked him for molestation and passing lewd remarks. The investigation is on,” said Hari Ram Sharma, deputy inspector general, GRP. The on duty Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel, who held him in the train after a complaint by the girl’s mother, handed him over to the GRP at the station.

The victim’s family however denied the charges. “It was around 6 in the morning when the train reached Sandila station. I was returning from the washroom that my daughter informed me about the incident. When I started calling RPF staff on duty, he tried best to apologise. He even touched my feet. Then he fled to some other coach. RPF men finally caught him,” Renu Saxena, the victims mother told HT. "I think he was drunk," she added.
