For renovation work of several historic monuments in old city, the state government had allocated around `200 crore. It took the LDA and other agencies of the government over a couple of years to complete the work.

Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav dubbed the ‘heritage zone’ in Hussainabad area in the old city as the heart of Lucknow on Sunday. The CM dedicated the heritage zone to people after its complete makeover.

For renovation of several historic monuments in old city, the state government had allocated around Rs 200 crore. It took the LDA and other government agencies over a couple of years to complete the work.

The majestic heritage zone now includes Chhota Imambada, Satkhanda Park, historic Clock Tower, Hussainabad Baradari, Kudia Ghat, Rumi Darwaza and Bada Imambada.

“Tourists come to Lucknow from all over the country. For them, old Lucknow is the favourite destination. Now, this area will be more attractive,” said the CM.

Tourists who venture out into the old city can now admire the nawabi-era architectural marvels in a ‘new light’. The cobblestone stretch here, enhancing the quaint look and old world charm of the surroundings, looks even more beautiful with illumination.
