Internet-linked surveillance on Charbagh station soon

Senior railways officials will no longer be required to monitor the closed circuit television camera footage of Charbagh railway station premises from the control room.

To enhance security at the Charbagh railway station, the Government Railway Police (GRP) have now decided to install Internet Protocol Television ( IP TV) linked new CCTV cameras will allow officials to keep track of things on their android phones, tablets and laptops.

“The IPTV link will allow senior officers to track passenger movement on the station premises 24X7 on their computer and even on laptops or Android-enabled mobile phones,” senior superintendent of police (GRP) Manoj Kumar said.

“The IPTV footage can be accessed with a specific login identity and password that will be provided to senior officers, including the director general (railways), inspector general (railways) and senior superintendent of police (GRP) among others.

Senior officials will no longer require to sit in the control room to review the footages. They can track the footages on their android phones, tablets and laptops,” Kumar said.

He added that more CCTV cameras would be installed on the station premises, especially at the crowded places including platforms, circulating areas and overbridges.

The move to install cameras comes in the wake of the increasing criminal activities on station premises, Charbagh railway station inspector (GRP) GS Tripathi said.
