The saffron brigade, planning to exploit Kalyan's third homecoming, is also busy planning a series of agitations and conferences in the state. The party has also demanded convening of the assembly session to discuss important issues. "The way this government is faring, there are several important issues that need to be discussed in the assembly," said Satish Mahana, BJP deputy leader in the UP assembly.

On Tuesday, while making it clear that his return was imminent now, Kalyan Singh had said in Lucknow that he wouldn't indulge in appeasement politics - a comment that was apparently targeted at the UP's ruling Samajwadi Party (SP), with which Singh had flirted for a while after his second exit from the BJP in 2009.

Taking a cue, the BJP's state unit too has decided to step up attack on the UP government. "There have been 11 incidents of violence in 11 districts in 7 months," Bajpai said adding, "The series of communal incidents in which a particular community has been targeted, the recent brandishing of weapons in Lucknow after Friday prayers in the state capital, the communal tension over taking out of religious procession in Bareilly, the violence in Kosikalan (Mathura), Muzaffarnagar, Pratapgarh and now Faizabad, all expose how this government is bending backwards to accommodate a particular community at the cost of alienating the majority."
