As the countdown for Children’s Day begins, Lucknow Childline is observing a ‘Dosti Week’ and has embarked upon the task of reaching out to people to spread awareness about its helpline number 1098.

Sandeep, a volunteer at Childline, said: “Apart from distributing the helpline number among the maximum number of people, the aim is also to spread awareness about child rights.”

For this purpose, the volunteers of the organisation held a medical camp at a city slum and a programme at a school on Tuesday.

Anshumali Sharma, director Childline and member Child Welfare Committee, said: “Child Rights Week begins from November 14. But at Childline across the country, we are observing a ‘Dosti Week’ that will end on November 14. The aim is to reach out to children who are in need of care and protection. We want to spread awareness among people our helpline number so that more children can benefit from it.”

Sharma urged people to show concern for children who are in need of help.

“If they can’t do anything much, they must call up 1098 and hand over the child to Childline, which takes care of such children,” he said.
