The trial run of metro train and its signalling system would begin from December 2016. It is likely to be completed within three months, unlike in Jaipur where trials were completed in one and a half years, said Kumar Keshav, MD, Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation.
“Our work on the metro rail project is on track and we will complete it before December 2016, or may be before that. The metro will become operational in March 2017,” said Keshav.
He said in Delhi too, the trial runs for metro were conducted within three months and services commenced after that. The signalling system used by the LMRC would be one of the most advanced in the world. The integrated system would help monitor the movement of metro trains on various tracks.
The tenders for procurement of metro tracks would be floated on June 10 while technical bid for rolling stock would be done within a week, Keshav added.
The tender process would be completed within a fortnight.

He said that all 476 girders and 259 pier caps would be installed in a year’s time.
For the construction of underground metro route from Charbagh to KD Singh ‘Babu’ stadium, a meeting was held with Systra India Limited, which would finalise the designs of three underground metro stations within four months.
