“Whenever the BSP or its government has been attacked, we have shown better results. Such attacks only help wake up cadre who are inactive," she said.

Laying the foundation for 160 development projects worth Rs 1,500 crore at a function on the 55th death anniversary of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, she urged Dalits yet again to keep their eyes fixed on the ultimate ambition of forming the government at the Centre.

“The functioning of our party and the government is based on the movement of Baba Saheb (as Dr Ambedkar is popularly known). The opposition is not happy and is trying to derail the movement, especially when the assembly elections are near,” the BSP chief said.

She added that the comments being made by the opposition on ministers, MLAs and party functionaries only proved they had nothing concrete against the BSP or her government.

On a recent tour to Bundelkhand to evaluate development projects, Ahluwalia had reportedly expressed displeasure at the poor quality of implementation of some works under the central Bundelkhand Package.

Mayawati’s projects for Bundelkhand include several related to drinking water and power supply worth nearly Rs 267 crore.
