The two-member committee constituted by the state government to inquire into the violence during the trade union strike will visit Noida on Friday to start the probe.
The committee members — additional director general of police (law and order) Arun Kumar and secretary (home) Rakesh — said the state government directed them to probe the district administration’s preparedness to maintain law and order during the bandh, the role of the police during violence and identify the officers who were slack.
The committee has been directed to submit its report within three days.
Addressing newspersons, Kumar said no untoward incident was reported on the second day of the bandh on Thursday. Industrial units remained open and security personnel staged a flag march to instill confidence among the people. A procession was taken out by trade unions in sectors 3,6 and 7 of Noida. A few people who pelted stones were taken into custody.
So far, the police have arrested 131 people for the violence and 184 FIRs have been registered. The trade union leaders who were taken into custody included Om Prakash, Surendra Pal Singh, Ramakant, Ramroop and Shyam Kishore of the CITU and the BHMS. The district police have slapped Section 7 of the Criminal Law Amendment Act and damage to the Public Property Act on those arrested.
