"There was a mechanical error in the compressor area, leading to fuel leakage. The driver instantly detached the bogies, stopped the engine and extinguished the fire," said Jogesh Singh Sondhi, Divisional Railway Manager, Lucknow division.

"No casualty was reported and all the passengers are safe," Sondhi said.

The driver, after putting out the fire, informed the control room about the accident. The train could leave, with a replaced engine, at 7.30 am.

The accident, which took place at a point 40 km from Lucknow, disrupted train movements on the Sultanpur-Lucknow segment of the Northern Railways for some time.

The passengers, most of whom were asleep, could not gather anything immediately until some of them alighted from their compartments to find out why there was an interruption in their journey.

Both the accidents happened early morning.
