Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh has expressed his desire to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections but the party does not want him to fight as he cannot be confined to one constituency, its chief Mulayam Singh Yadav said on Friday.
"Amar Singh can win on any seat if the party fields him but SP does not want Singh to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha polls though he has requested for the same," Yadav said in reply to the reported statement of senior leader Mohammad Azam Khan that the general secretary cannot even win an election for the post of village head.
Yadav said the party did not want to field him so that he can campaign on a national level instead of being confined to one constituency.
"There are at least two seats in the state from where Singh can easily win only if he files his nomination and organises two or three meetings there. But we do not want him to contest the polls," Yadav said.
Asked about the reported move of the state government recommending a CBI probe into donations made by Singh to the Clinton's Foundation in December, 2008, Yadav said, UP Chief Minister Mayawati should stay away from the CBI as she can be trapped by the agency.ough the Malacca Strait.
