"Azam Khan is a founder member of the party. He was expelled due to some reasons. We are in touch with him and talks are on," Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav told reporters in reply to a question.

Khan, once a close confidante of Mulayam Singh, was expelled from the party when he raised voice against Mulayam's friendship with former BJP leader Kalyan Singh.

Khan, who was party's National General Secretary, opposed Jaya Prada's candidature from Rampur in Lok Sabha polls and was also not in good terms with expelled SP leader Amar Singh.
