The district police chief Rajendra Singh told HT over phone that the private bus (UP 71/B 3215) was on its way from Jahanabad to Amauli when a high tension wire near the bus station fell on the bus after sparking. He said the bus caught fire causing deaths and injuries.

The SP said there were as many as 30 passengers in the bus. He further said that medical teams from Fatehpur and nearby Bindki town had also been rushed to Jahanabad, 70 km from Fatehpur district headquarters for relief and rescue operation.

According to information the UP Power Corporation Limited, which has rushed a team of engineers from Fathepur, has ordered high level probe into the matter. The SP however ruled out any slackness in providing relief to the injured people.
