Two such orders giving new assignment to two officers of the Chief Minister’s Secretariat were issued discreetly a few days ago. However, the exercise has been undertaken on the pretext of additional charge to the officers.

Principal secretary to the Chief Minister has been given the additional responsibility and charge as Director General (DG) of the UP Academy of Administration, formerly known as the IMDUP.

A special secretary of the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, who has already been holding the additional charge as the director of an institute, has been posted Director (Training) in the State Planning Institute. Order for transfer of another secretary-level officer has also been issued but the officer has not yet joined the new place of posting.

However, a group of senior bureaucrats, who were ignored by Mulayam Singh Yadav mainly because of their proximity to Mayawati in her previous regimes and who are now looking forward to some good postings, dubbed the efforts of the officers as an exercise in futility as it would not be difficult for the new regime, Mayawati or anybody else, to sent them on certain other irrelevant or side postings, if the new incumbent decided to do so.

They give an example of SP Arya, who was principal secretary to Rajnath Singh, the then Chief Minister, but had got himself posted as principal secretary, Irrigation, just before the fall of the Rajnath Government. The new regime, however, allowed him to work in the Irrigation Department hardly for a few days and shifted him to some other insignificant post.
