Here is a list of some upcoming flower shows in the Capital, where you can revel in the blossoming beauties

Be it the love for chrysanthemums or the joy of tulips, one can’t help but soak in the beauty of flowers. So, here is a list of some upcoming flower shows in the Capital, where you can revel in the blossoming beauties. You can also participate, win prizes and even learn a few things about your favourite plant. And at Delhi University’s annual flower shows, you can also win big for capturing the flowers.

Tulips bloom at The Mughal Garden at the President’s Estate . The 15-acre area of the Mughal Gardens of Rashtrapati Bhawan was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens.

1. Mughal Gardens
The popular annual Udyanotsav at President’s Estate, has about 14,000 tulips in seven different colours planted at the Mughal Gardens. Several beds of roses, including both new and heritage are the main attraction of the Long Garden. Flower Carpets are also on display in the Central Lawns. The dominant colour scheme of this year’s ornamental flowers is shades of yellow, red and orange. A small cactus corner, is also part of the display. Exhibition stalls have been set up near the Spiritual Garden displaying fresh vegetables and fruits grown in the President’s Estate Organic Farm. Visitors and plant lovers can also see a Lotus pond with a cascading waterfall in the Spiritual Garden.

On till: March 12 (Closed on Mondays)
Timings: 9.30am to 4pm

The bright flowers that bloom at the annual flower show at Delhi University’s North Campus are much awaited by students and visitors in general.

3. Annual Flower Show by Delhi University
The 59th edition of the annual Flower Show by Delhi University should be a must visit on your list. “There will be a display of potted plants a day prior to the show. Students from different colleges will participate by showcasing cut flowers and flower rangoli,” says Suraj Dabas, horticulturist, garden committee, Delhi University. This year, there will also be a photography competition of flowers and plants, for the first time!
Where: Mughal Garden, VC Office, North Campus
When: February 23
Timings: 12noon to 5pm

4. Annual Fruit, Flower & Vegetable Show
This year, it will be the Golden Jubilee of this annual show. “The theme focuses on gardening throughout the year,” says Bella Gupta from All India Kitchen Garden Association. There will be a landscape competition and also stalls that will sell edible seeds and equipments for gardening and garden accessories.
Where: JCO Club, Block A, Defence Colony
When: March 4 and 5
Timings: 10am to 6pm
