27-year-old woman poisons self, three children at Kalyan

The woman and two of the children have succumbed to the poison, while one of the boys remains in critical condition.

A 27-year-old woman, who was allegedly depressed because of family problems, committed suicide by consuming poison, which she also gave to her three sons on Thursday at Kalyan. The police are yet to ascertain their identities.

The woman and two of the children have succumbed to the poison, while one of the boys remains in critical condition. The children were all below the age of 15.

The incident took place at a slum in Mohane on Thursday morning, within the jurisdiction of Khadakpada police station in Kalyan.

“In our primary investigation we have taken her husband’s statement, who is a fisherman. He left for work around 6am but returned within an hour. When he opened the door of the house, he saw his children and wife lying unconscious on the floor with froth was coming out of their mouths,” said a police officer.

He then alerted his neighbours, and the four were taken to a hospital.
