4 ‘delivery boys’ enter Khar flat at knifepoint, flee with ₹63 lakh

According to sources, the incident took place around 9.15am, when the businessman, Nadir Sayyed, was not at home

Posing as delivery boys, four men entered the flat of a garment businessman in Khar on Wednesday, tied his wife and daughter at knifepoint and fled with ₹63 lakh in cash. While a case has been registered, no arrests were made at the time of going to press.

According to sources, the incident took place around 9.15am, when the businessman, Nadir Sayyed, was not at home. “His wife, who is the complainant, said as she opened the door, one of the four men pointed a knife at her. Once all of them were inside the flat, they tied the woman to the chair,” said a police officer, requesting anonymity.

They then tied their minor daughter to the bed, while the other two sons were sleeping in another room. “The accused asked Sayyed’s wife where the cash was kept. They took the bag full of cash and fled within minutes,” he said.

The manager of the security guards at the building said, “Four of them entered separately. The first man told the guard he had to hand over a delivery on the 12th floor. Within a few minutes, three more came and said they wanted to deliver a parcel on the fifth floor.”

Police suspect it to be a handiwork of an acquaintance, who knew there was cash at home.
