Corporator protests over unclean nullahs near Mumbai

Mumbai city news: Despite providing Rs2 crore for cleaning the nullahs in Mumbra, they remain dirty, causing the area to flood.

After the first showers flooded Mumbra, corporator Ashraf Pathan staged a protest against the shoddy nullah cleaning work on Tuesday and demanded that the corporators responsible for it be blacklisted.

The work started late in Mumbra as none of the contractors were willing to clean the nullahs. When it rained in the first week of June, several areas of Mumbra were flooded due to choked nullahs. (HT)

The work started late in Mumbra as none of the contractors were willing to clean the nullahs. When it rained in the first week of June, several areas of Mumbra were flooded due to choked nullahs. Water entered homes near Jama Masjid near Kedar Palace. This has worried residents about the next three months.

“Water entered about 75 homes in the area destroying electronic appliances. The corporation should give Rs25,000 to each of these families as compensation for the loss. The corporation has reportedly spent Rs2.30 crores on the nullahs in Mumbra but they are still not clean. The contractor responsible should be blacklisted.”
