Doctor death: Three more missing, cops launch probe

All of the victims’ families are believed to have approached Pol for medical advice

The Satara police on Thursday launched a fresh investigation into reports of three others missing from Wai over the past few years. Investigations will be carried out to probe the involvement of Santosh Pol behind their disappearance. A special team landed in Wai to conduct DNA tests and identify the bodies.

The missing people have been identified as Vilas Vishnu Dhage, 45, a Wai resident who has been missing since 2001, Deepali Krishna Sanas, 21,a Renavale resident who has been missing since 2002, and Mahadev Sonu Chikane, 42, a Wadiwali resident who has been missing since 2012.

Satara superintendent of police, Sandip Patil, formed special teams on Thursday after the families of three people met police officials on Wednesday and expressed anger over the laxity in police investigations. They fear that Pol was behind the disappearance of their family members.

The families told police that they have been in contact with Pol. All of them are believed to have approached Pol for medical advice. Pol, however, has still not confessed.

The investigation comes a day before the police custody of Pol comes to an end on Friday. Pol was arrested on August 11 for kidnapping Mangala Jedhe. The police will seek an extension of his custody in the light of the six murders. Pol is expected to be produced in the Wai court on Friday.

Pol praises police

The police have revealed a letter written by Santosh Pol to Satara SP Sandip Patil. The letter praises Wai inspector Vinayak Vetal for his courage during in the investigation. Pol wrote the letter when the police asked him how he managed to hide his crimes for so long. Pol wrote that all the police officers were part of a corrupt system.
