HSC results: 28-year-old from Mumbai who hurt his spine in accident 7 years ago scores 70%

Mumbai city news: Ugale hurt his spinal cord when he fell down from a mango tree in Mandwa at the age of 21.

Kishore Ugale, 28, who is unable to stand on his own after he met with an accident seven years ago, appeared for the HSC exam after a gap of 12 years and scored 70.3%.

Ugale hurt his spinal cord when he fell down from a mango tree in Mandwa at the age of 21. This led to a partial paralysis-paraplegia, which means lower part of his body is paralysed.

Forced to drop out after SSC exams owing to financial troubles in 2005, he couldn’t resume studies in 2010 owing to the accident. But determined to clear HSC, he started preparing for the exam while working at a call centre. “I work for more than 12 hours a day, so I used to study early in the morning before going to work. It was difficult for me to restart after a 12-year gap but I owed it to myself,” says Kishore, who moved to Mumbai from Vidharbha in 2012. He is currently living in rehabilation center ‘Sharan’ where he is being treated for the last three years.
