Information available at 2pm shows the BJP is likely to retain its hold over the Nagpur Municipal Corporation, where it is leading in 70 seats. The BJP was ruling the corporation with 64 seats out of its 145 strength after the previous elections. Party workers were seen celebrating at several areas.

The Congress now leads in only 20 seats, after counting picked up tempo this afternoon.The counting of votes began at 10am for 151 seats .

In the Akola Municipal corporation elections too, the BJP is leading in 36 seats, the Congress in 9 and Shiv Sena and NCP are leading in one each seat. There are 80 seats in the Akola Municipal Corporation. In 2012, the BJP had won just 23 seats.
