Mumbai man detained for carrying 700kg ‘beef’

Mumbai city news: The meat was being transported to Shivajinagar from Panvel in Raigad district.

The Shivaji Nagar police on Tuesday detained a man for allegedly carrying 700kg of meat, suspected to be beef, in a tempo.

The meat was being transported to Shivajinagar from Panvel in Raigad district.

“The samples have been sent for examination at the Kalina lab,” said Shahji Umap, deputy commissioner of police, zone 7.

“We will take appropriate action after we get report of the chemical analysis,” said Umap.

The police are investigating who ordered the consignment.
