The anti-narcotics cell (ANC) of the Mumbai police on Tuesday, arrested two drug peddlers in separate cases for possessing Mephdrone (MD) or Meow Meow, a popular party drug, in commercial quantity .

Acting on a tip-off, DCP Shivdeep Lande from the Ghatkopar unit arrested Shakil Ahmad Vaeesh Mohammad Chaudhari, 39, near Parijat building near Tilak Nagar railway station. He was carrying 100 grams of MD worth Rs 2 lakh. Chaudhari is a resident of Mohili Village in Sakinaka.
In the second case, the ANC unit arrested Zaheer Mehmood Khan, 27, a resident of Malad (West) for possessing 70 grams of MD worth Rs1.4 lakh near Swagat Park bus stop in Malad (West).
In 2015, MD was added to the list of drugs banned under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
