RPF men rescue 35-year-old who fell off running train in Mumbai

A 35-year-old man survived after falling off a local train on Thursday evening due to the alert personnel of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) who were posted on anti-trespassing duty between Sion and Matunga stations.

Ram Krishna Kumar, a native of Bihar’s Chhapra district, fell from a train near pole number 10/13 and was spotted soon after by constables Vijay Bhosale and DD Suryavanshi. They were posted around 500 meters away near pole 10/8 to stop people from crossing railway tracks.

When they spotted Kumar around 5.45pm, they rushed to the spot and found the commuter with a severe head injury and a broken arm. They then alerted motor man of the approaching CST bound fast train and made him halt the train. Kumar was put onboard and brought to Dadar.

“At Dadar, he was provided medical aid and subsequently was shifted to Sion Hospital for further treatment. The passenger regained consciousness after 20 hours,” said Sachin Bhalode, senior divisional security commissioner, RPF, CR.
