The Agripada police has registered a cheating case against six persons for cheating a 52-year-old to the tune of ₹29 lakh. The accused cheated the accused under the pretext of purchasing a commercial shop at a cheaper rate under the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (Mhada) scheme.
Rohidas Lokhande, 52, in his complaint said that the deal was going on since 2013 till January 10, 2018. He was assured of a shop at Rehmani tower, Mhada building, Tardeo, at the rate of ₹31 lakh. The six accused, who have their office in Byculla, took an amount of ₹29 lakh through cheque and cash since 2013, and didn’t give the complainant the commercial shop under the Mhada scheme.
“Lokhande claims that the deal was finalized more than five years ago, where the accused brothers assured Lokhande that their mother was going to get a shop under the Mhada scheme, and once it is allotted they will hand it over to him,” said S Agawane, senior police inspector of Agripada police station.
Instead, they took the cash and said that the shop will soon be allotted, but till date, the room was not allotted. The accused themselves accepted that they took the cash and did not allot the shop. They had a meeting were the accused decided to return the cash, but as they did not return the cash, the complainant approached the police and registered a case this week.

A case has been registered at Agripada police station under section 406, 420 and 34 of the Indian penal code.
