The Sion-Panvel highway saw traffic congestion for nearly an hour after a tanker toppled on it on Monday.

According to the police, the tanker, which was loaded with tar, was heading towards Panvel from Mumbai.
As the tanker was crossing the flyover at Kopri village around 4am, the driver lost control of the vehicle and it crashed into the road divider.
“The dumper then toppled on the highway. However, there was still some space for other vehicles to pass through,” said a police officer from Kharghar police station.
“Around 9am, we brought a crane to remove the dumper. Then the lane towards Panvel (on the flyover) was shut for nearly an hour. Even as the vehicles were going towards Panvel under the flyover, the stretch saw traffic congestion,” the officer said.
The dumper driver sustained minor injuries in the accident. He was rushed to a nearby hospital and was discharged later.
