Three men -- 2 mechanics and a scrap dealer -- were held for stealing split ACs from banks and unguarded ATMs by posing as mechanics.

Amit Radheshyam Yadav, 19, and Ravikant alias Rohit Tiwari, 23, used to enter the banks posing as AC maintenance staff. They used to then tell bank officials that the AC unit had developed a technical problem, which could only be fixed at their service centre, and flee.
On October 14, the Tulinj police got a tip-off about a duo discussing how to sell the stolen AC units. The police soon arrested the duo. Their arrest led the police to a scrap dealer, Israr Mohd Raza Kashti, 20, from Kandivli, who bought the AC units from them.
The trio has been booked for theft. They are in police custody. The police are checking if they have any more offences registered against them.
“We have recovered the five stolen ACs,” said an official.
