VAAYU 2017: Mumbai college fest to focus on youth empowerment

Annual festival at NMIMS’s Anil Surendra Modi School of Commerce, which starts on Wednesday, will include events, workshops and talks

The annual festival of Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies’ (NMIMS) Anil Surendra Modi School of Commerce (ASMSC) will seek to inspire the youth through guidance from personalities from diverse walks of life.

VAAYU 2017, which starts on Wednesday, will include events, workshops and talks. It expects a footfall of 33,000 students from across the country.

On Wednesday, ASMSC will host noted poet, lyricist and screenwriter Javed Akhtar at ‘The Forefront’. Akhtar will shed light on his life, work and discuss other topics at the event.

“All of our events have some or the other aspect of youth empowerment,” said Vishwa Shah, head of department, Literary Arts, VAAYU 2017.

In an event called ‘The Anchor Hunt’, students passionate about sports will get an opportunity to intern for ESPN. Those interested will have to give a test in which they have to write and talk about sports.

To help the youth, who have a keen interest in investing, the ‘Virtual Stock Market’ will give them a chance to earn virtual money. The event will also boost their knowledge and understanding of the market.

The festival will also witness stage performances from various students, so that they get the feel of performing at a professional show.

“Combine youth and empowerment. Add some fun and entertainment and a pinch of challenges, and you have VAAYU,” said Shah.
