The Vidarbha Rajya Andolan Samiti (VRAS) will hold a two-day symbolic assembly session of Vidarbha state in Nagpur on October 3 and 4 ahead of the winter session of the state legislature (slated to begin on December 5), as part of their strategy towards the formation of a separate state.

The two-day symbolic session will also oppose Maharashtra legislature, said the VRAS members. The party plans to conduct a grand morcha to Vidhan Bhavan and hold a massive dharna there from December 5.

The VRAS working committee chalked out the details of the assembly session that will be held at Deshpande Hall in Civil Lines on Monday. VRAS convenor Ram Neole said the development model of the region will be presented in the proposed mock session. Besides, the financial viability of the new state would also be discussed during the event.

The party members will discuss strategy to promote industrialisation and generate employment opportunities in Vidarbha, tackle farmers’ suicide and malnourishment and curb the Maoist menace in the region. Besides, they would discuss how load-shedding can be minimised and power tariff be reduced. The VRAS will also discuss on the steps that needed to be taken to make Vidarbha numero uno in the country, Neole said.
