A 22-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly stabbing her husband of eight months to death with a kitchen knife after they fought over food and he blamed her of cheating on him in Kalyan on Sunday.
The incident occurred after Ravi Waghmare,25 , who used to do odd jobs, had come back home with his wife Swarupa, who sold stationery products in local trains. “When Ravi asked her to cook lunch, she said she would do it in sometime. But since he was hungry they began fighting over this. Swarupa then started cutting vegetables. It was after this that Ravi came from behind and shouted at her while blaming her of cheating on him. Swarupa lost her temper and stabbed him in the chest with the knife she was using to cut vegetables. Ravi collapsed on the floor and started bleeding profusely,” said a police officer from Khadakpada police station.

Later, neighbours took him to a nearby hospital but he was declared dead on arrival. “The couple got married eight months ago but they fought frequently. Neighbours said Ravi used to doubt Swarupa and that used to upset her. We have arrested Swarupa under section of 302 (punishment for murder) of the Indian Penal Code,” the officer added.
