The Indian Army, which is constructing three foot over-bridges (FOBs) in Mumbai, is doing the last leg of work for the FOB at Elphinstone Road station.
Currently, work on the FOB’s pre-fabricated staircase and roof are underway. The FOB is expected to be ready by February 15.
The Army was roped in following the stampede on the narrow Elphinstone Road station on September 29, 2017, which led to the death of 23 city commuters. Work on the three FOBs — at Elphinstone Road, Currey Road and Ambivali (beyond Kalyan) stations — kicked off in November 2017.
