MUMBAI : The residents of Malad and Marve, under the Citizen Council for Social and Civic Services have objected to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) revised draft Development Plan (DP) 2034 that marked their areas under the no-development zone (NDZ).

In the revised draft, BMC has tapped on NDZs to create affordable housing in the city. It put in a clause for opening up these land parcels — portions of them have to be handed over to it for amenities. However, the residents, mostly from the Koli community said that they wanted the authority to develop their own lands. Digambar Vaity, a resident, said, “We want to develop our own lands. There have been a lot of unauthorised constructions.” The residents have also said that the plan does not mark adequate schools, playgrounds and hospitals in the area.
