MUMBAI: Redrawing boundaries of all 227 wards has not only landed political leaders in trouble, but is also likely to result in confusion among citizens. The ward numbers have changed, but the administrative wards are unchanged.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has uploaded the new electoral maps on their official website http:// www.mcgm.gov.in/ to accept suggestions and objections from October 5 to October 20. The civic body is yet to decide on a strategy to spread awareness about the delimitation exercise.
The civic body has created hyperlinks on new ward formations to enable the citizens to know their new ward boundaries and their new ward numbers, said civic officials.
Sanjog Kabare, assistant municipal commissioner, involved with the process, said, “We have uploaded the new ward maps on the civic body’s official website and we will also reach out to the citizens on the new ward formations.”
Anandini Thakoor, chairperson of H-west federation, said, “The civic body should make some serious efforts to explain us our new ward boundaries.”
Ashoke Pandit, an activist of K-west ward, said, “The social media is a vast network to reach out to the citizens.”
