MUMBAI: The Supreme Court agreed on Tuesday to hear Haji Ali Dargah Trust’s appeal against the Bombay high court order lifting the ban on entry of women in the sanctum sanctorum of the shrine.

Senior advocate Huzefa Ahmadi mentioned the appeal before a bench headed by Chief Justice TS Thakur who fixed October 7 to hear the appeal.
On August 26, the high court had held the ban prohibiting women from entering the sanctum sanctorum of the shrine violated the constitution and held women should be permitted to enter the sanctum sanctorum.
