Around 1.91 lakh students had submitted their online application forms for admission to junior colleges in the city until Wednesday evening. Students have time until Thursday to submit their forms.
Compared to the final data from last year, this year until Wednesday, fewer students from outside Maharashtra submitted application forms. So far, 757 students have applied from outside Maharashtra, compared to 1,274 at the end of the process last year.
Until last week, many such students, including those from Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar had not received their original mark sheets. Many have received them over the past few days. Students still have one more day to put in their applications.
“Now that many out station students have somehow managed to get their originals, we have been able to process their applications,” said a guidance centre official.
Offline admission to the minority and in-house quotas in the mean time, have drawn to a close.
Colleges such as St Andrew’s and Jai Hind closed admissions after two minority lists, where earlier they had planned for three. At Jai Hind, the minority admission list for the science (general) course closed at 75%, with both commerce and arts closing at 60%. At HR College, the commerce minority list closed at 74.5%, half a point lower than the previous list. At St Andrew’s, the minority lists closed at 81.6% for science and 80.18% for commerce.
