10-year-old molested by auto driver

The Deonar police on Monday registered a case against an unknown auto rickshaw driver for allegedly kidnapping and molesting a 10-year-old schoolgirl from Mankhurd on Tuesday.

The victim was returning home from her school when an auto driver approached her and offered to drop her home.

The girl reportedly trusted the man and sat in the auto, said the police. "The accused took her to an isolated place near Deonar municipal colony and attempted to molest her," said Senior Police Inspector Tukaram Bhalerao, of Deonar police station.

The victim started screaming which prevented the accused from raping her. “The victim managed to escape. She narrated the entire incident to her family who then lodged a complaint with the police,” added Bhalerao. She has given a detailed description of the man on the basis of which the police have drawn a sketch of the accused.
