Thirteen persons, suspected to be members of the Chhota Rajan gang, have been booked under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), for their alleged involvement in the attack on a Shiv Sena leader from the city, the police said on Friday.

The accused had allegedly organised an attack on Thane Shiv Sena leader Rajesh Ghatge in July this year, officials of the anti-extortion cell said. The 13 men were arrested separately in the last month, following which the police slapped MCOCA on them on Thursday, the police said.
Ghatge was allegedly attacked with a chopper and fired at from a revolver by the accused over some old enmity, police said. He survived the attack and taken to a local hospital where he recovered.
The accused have past criminal records in Thane, Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, police said.
