A six-months pregnant 16-year-old from Goregaon filed a rape complaint in Pune against her neighbour. The complaint was transferred to the Oshiwara police on Monday as the crime occurred in their jurisdiction.
According to the police, the girl and the accused both lived at Bhagat Singh Nagar in Goregaon (West). The two had been in a relationship for the past few months and the girl conceived about six months ago.
After her mother learned of the pregnancy, she took the teen to an ashram in the Pimpri-Chinchwad area of Pune where she had been living for the past five months.
After the authorities in the ashram noticed her baby bump, the girl confessed to being pregnant, following which a rape complaint was registered at MIDC Bhosari, a police station in Pune.
“On Monday, the complaint was transferred to the Oshiwara police as the place of offence falls under their area of jurisdiction. The boy had taken the victim to an Oshiwara hotel, where he raped her,” said an official from the Oshiwara police, who did not wish to be named.
Senior inspector of Oshiwara police, Dilip Rupawate said, “We are verifying the authenticity of the complaint and hence cannot reveal the name of the alleged accused. We will speak to the victim and her mother to get more details.”
