2 bag snatchers arrested

The timely action of the police helped nab two bag snatchers on Tuesday in Mulund. Navghar policemen on patrol duty caught Rajesh Singh (23) and Sikandar Sharma (18), after they targeted a man when he came out of an ATM.

However, two others managed to flee with the bag containing Rs 70,000.

The police said Sharad Eknath Bagwe (51) withdrew Rs one lakh from the ATM of Maharashtra Bank and Hyderabad Bank. “After Bagwe came out, four people came and threatened him with a chopper. They snatched the bag and ran,” said Prakash Shetye, assistant police inspector.

Bagwe raised an alarm that alerted a police patrol van nearby who they nabbed the accused.
