The deceased, Siddharth Bansode, was a petty thief from Tiwari area in Powai.

The Police have now launched a hunt for Ashok Gaikwad and his accomplices, who are suspected to be behind the murder.

As per the police records, Bansode and Gaikwad had a major quarrel over some trivial issue last November. Bansode was then booked and arrested for causing serious injuries to Gaikwad.

“His arrest had caused further fights between the two," said Senior Police Inspector Ashok Jadhav of Powai police station.

On Sunday evening the duo again had an argument at a public garden in Powai, officials investigating the case said.

A witness, who is a Bansode's friend, told the police that Gaikwad hit Bansode with stone, leading to his immediate death.

The fight between two turned so ugly that Warekar in a fit of rage stabbed Kature to death.

The locals who tried to intervene too sustained injuries.
