A 25-year-old man who was allegedly trying to deliver 22kg cannabis, worth Rs 80,000, was arrested by the anti-narcotics cell (ANC) of the Mumbai crime branch from Mankhurd on Tuesday.

According the police officials, the cannabis had been brought from Orissa. Acting on a tip-off, they laid a trap in Mankhurd. They found the accused, Nayak Pathan, moving suspiciously with a bag. On checking, they found that he possessed cannabis.
Pathan reached Mumbai by Konark Express, following which he went to Mankhurd. “Pathan came from Orissa to deliver the contraband. We are trying to trace the receiver,” said Vilas Chougale, assistant police inspector, Ghatkopar, ANC unit.
“We have arrested Pathan under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. He was produced in the court and has been remanded in police custody till September 20,” said Chougale.
