3 arrested for forging papers of dead man

Two women and a man were arrested on Friday for forging documents of a dead man and robbing his wife of all his property. The matter came to light after the wife lodged a complaint with the Bazarpeth police station, Kalyan. The three have been identified as Perumal Aaarsan, 45, Dhanaskhori Kannumurti, 42, and Manju Periyaswami, 32.

PI Ravindra Tyade, Bazarpeth police station, Kalyan, said Jagannath Ramaswami was a class IV employee with the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation who had married Sushila, 38.

In 2003, Ramaswami contracted TB and his family took him to their native place in Tamilnadu, where he died a few months later.

His relatives, however, did not inform Sushila, who was living with her parents at Mohane, Kalyan.

Soon, Aarasan prepared fake documents, such as affidavits, ration card, bank passbook, photo ID etc, which showed Dhanaskhori Kannumurti as Ramaswami’s wife.

Because of this, the provident fund and pension benefits went to Dhanaskhori, who is actually the wife of Ramaswami’s younger brother Jagannath.

When Sushila learnt of this, she approached the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation, no one took cognisance of her complaint. She then approached the police.

The police will now be inquiring with the Ambernath rationing office and the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation office about how fake documents were issued and claims passed on the fake documents.

The accused were produced in Kalyan court, which sent the accused to four days police custody.
