3 arrested for stealing Laptops

The recovered laptops are worth Rs 3,35,000. The accused Govindraj Nagraj, Rameshwar Rangaswami alias Saimbil and Shivakumar Paryaswami have been booked under the Indian Penal Code sections 380 and 34. The accused have been remanded to police custody till June 29.

Nagraj is from Tamilnadu and Rangaswami is from Karnataka.

Paryaswami, the prime accused, is a teacher by profession at a computer coaching class and hails from Tamil Nadu. Nagraj and Rangaswami stole the laptops and Paryaswami was supposed to buy the laptops from them.

“The thieves diverted the drivers’ attention by telling them that their money had fallen on the road. They then stole the laptops from the car's back seat. There are also cases when they entered homes posing as newspaper vendors and stole the laptops,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Dattatrey Shinde,

The recovered laptops were branded.

“There are many cases of laptop theft lodged at Kalamboli, Khandeshwar and NRI complex in Navi Mumbai and other areas in Mumbai and Pune. People who have lost them should check with the Panvel crime branch unit,” added Shinde.
