According to information available, one patient from a private nursing home died of the disease on Tuesday morning. The victim was identified as Ajit Chhaterjee, an ex-employee of MOIL, Nagpur. He was being treated at a private nursing home for the last two weeks, his family members said.

Dr Sanjay Jaiswal, the deputy director of health services, said that his department launched a massive awareness campaign across the region about swine flu and its prevention. Health department officials stated that nearly 250 patients were found positive in the region while 162 patients were taking treatment in different hospitals.

Dr Abhimanyu Niswade, the dean of the government-run medical college and hospital said that 14 people died of swine flu at the hospital while taking treatment.
