The special court constituted under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act on Wednesday told the convicts to pay an additional fine of Rs 5 lakh failing which they will face another two years of imprisonment.

Kamar Rashid alias Monu alias Munna Abdul Rashid Siddique (22), Parvez Akhtar Tajmul Hussain Siddique (34) and Anees Anwar Ul Haq Khan (34) had opened fire on Dharamraj Singh alias Bacchu Singh from a .38 bore revolver on September 18, 2008. The court acquitted their alleged accomplice Asghar Rajabali Khan (30) for lack of evidence.

An FIR was registered at DN Nagar police station, but the case remained unresolved for a period of nearly six months. The involvement of the three convicts, and their accomplice, in the case was found when the Mumbai crime branch arrested Anees and one Prashant Shivpujan Tripathi. The duo was arrested for allegedly breaking into Nadiadwala’s house and stealing valuables worth Rs 50 lakh on January 9, 2009. Anees during interrogations gave details of the accused involved in the shoot out and the .38 bore revolver used was recovered from him.

Ballistic experts confirmed that the bullet shells found from the shootout site matched with the revolver recovered from Anees, added Khandagle.
