The four, who are from various crime branch units of the GRP, were arrested by the Wadala GRP on Sunday for culpable homicide not amounting to murder, among other charges.

J Rathod, senior inspector, Wadala GRP, said the victim, Habibullah Atahullah Khan, a resident of Antop Hill, was found unconscious between Kurla and Tilak Nagar stations. “Khan was taken to Sion hospital. He regained consciousness on Saturday and told us that the constables, who were in plain clothes, allegedly demanded money from him. When he refused to pay, they pushed him out of the train,” said Rathod, adding that his right leg was amputated below the knee.

Khan’s wife, however, alleged that the men had accosted her husband on August 17 as well and had demanded money.
