BEST has only three Volvo buses that are plied on AC route number 4 between Oshiwara and Backbay. It will add three more buses next month.

There are doubts whether the entire fleet of 50 AC buses will be available for the city by the year-end. This is because BEST signed a contract with Volvo last September, but has so far got only three buses. The delivery of the remaining buses has been delayed, BEST members said.

Sanjay Potnis, chairman of the BEST committee, said: “The Volvo has only one plant in Bangalore. They are manufacturing buses for other cities as well and that is why it is taking time. By the end of this year, all the buses will be added to our fleet.”
