Seven persons, including four high-ranking defense officials, have sought to relinquish their membership in the controversial Adarsh Co-operative Housing Society in Cuffe Parade ever since the alleged scam broke.

The housing society is, however, yet to decide about the written communication forwarded by the members - general NC Vij, general Deepak Kapoor, admiral Madhavendra Singh, major general RK Hooda, Bhagwati Manoharlal Sharma, Madanlal Milkiram Sharma and Seema Vinod Sharma.

This has been revealed in an affidavit filed by the housing society along with the list of its 103 members.

The Bombay high court earlier sought details of members while hearing a petition filed by Adarsh CHS challenging the disconnection of electricity and water supply by the Bombay Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), respectively.

Apart from the seven members, three members - Amol Karbhari, Kiran Bhadange and SC Sharma - have already relinquished their membership, as they were unable to pay the dues of the society, the affidavit filed by Brigadier (retired) MM Wanchu, president of the housing society, further stated.

According to the affidavit, the society has a total built-up space of 8,402.06 square metres with Floor Space Index of 1.32 as against the permissible 3.5. The affidavit adds the society had consumed additional FSI measuring 2669.68 square meters of an open plot adjoining the controversial plot.
