Eight employees of NRC Company were arrested late on Saturday in connection with the gas leak incident in the company premises. They were later released on bail.

However, the manager of the company, D.P.S. Jindani, is still absconding, the police said.
On Thursday, a gas leak started from the sulphur tank, which is used as a fuel to run the boiler, installed in the company premises. The employees tried to control the fire for three hours , but when they couldn’t, the fire brigade officials were called, who took 12 hours to douse the fire.
Twenty-nine people were hospitalised at Rukminibai Hospital, while 100 others were treated by a medical team of the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KMDC), on the spot.
“We have registered a case against nine employees. Ratanlal Sheth, plant manager, Deepak Pawar, senior engineer, Dinesh Pratap Singh, executive engineer, Sandeep Sharma, chief security officer, Makhansingh Gill, security officer, Apparao Devrai, chief in-charge, security guards Vikas Rajput and Baharul Sheikh have been arrested,” said police inspector Subhah Patil.
