Adarsh scam: CBI probes role of 2 former CMs

“There are some reflections in the [investigation progress] report about the points which you have raised, and [the CBI] is investigating those leads,” a high court division bench of Justice Ranjana Desai and Justice RG Ketkar told advocate YP Singh, who voiced concern about the lack of action against Deshmukh and Shinde.

Shinde told HT: “I will not comment because I’m in Delhi and know nothing about the case proceedings today.” Deshmukh could not be reached despite repeated attempts. The exact nature of the leads was unclear as the CBI report was submitted in a sealed cover to the court.

The society has been accused of construction and environmental violations as well as of getting the Colaba plot on which it stands on the promise of building houses for war widows. However, most flats went to politicians, military commanders and bureaucrats.

Deshmukh, Singh alleged, okayed a letter of intent to the society on January 18, 2003, his last day as CM.
