Adarsh Cooperative Housing Society has served a legal notice on the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) asking it to restore the occupation certificate it revoked last month on the grounds that the Colaba building did not have clearance from the ministry of environment.
The society has been accused of violating environmental norms and of getting the land on the promise that houses would be built for war widows and veterans.
Adarsh’s lawyer Satish Maneshide said in the notice dated November 4 that the society has all the permissions needed for construction. “The notice [of revoking the occupation certificate on October 30] is grossly in violation of principles of natural justice…” said the notice.
MMRDA officer in-charge Sampath Kumar denied having received the notice.
